If you’re looking to make your nursery smell like the filthiest Texaco latrine you ever visited at 3am alongside the freeway in the middle of nowhere, then THIS IS THE PRODUCT FOR YOU! It is the toxic chemical smell of latrine urinal cakes (the pink ones) that will cover up the smell of rotting corpses (not to mention soothe your cough and open your sinuses). I am in no way overstating the overpowering toxic aroma of this item. It is not a subtle scent that might remind you of that Texaco latrine, it is the EXACT SAME chemical oxidizer. Read the box, it states that you should not touch the chemical pad with your bare hands, and not to let it come in contact with anything flammable. Don’t waste your money!!! We put the item back in the box, and took it to the outside trash can just to get the smell out of our house.

I caught a cold and was wandering the cold medicine isle and saw these on sale for $3.99 and the refills were on sale too. I have never liked the cherry smell and had gotten the menthol ones just in case. I ended up liking them better than the cherry. As one of the reviewers mentioned, it IS a matter of taste. However, they weren’t too bad. The fan itself is not as powerful as some of the electric ones I have seen and I had to keep it really close to feel the effects, but it cleared my nasal passages. Having the flowing vapors on for a little over an hour had my nose running after being congested all day so it was a welcome relief.

I don’t agree with the poster that say they smell like urinal cakes.
To me these smell like the cherry cough drops and I prefer this to the menthol-eucaliptus smell. I guess this is just a question of taste. I would suggest that before you buy this try to smell the package at walgreens or cvs if you can.
The ingredients are the same of vick’s vapor rub (+cherry aroma) but concentrated and that’s why you’re not supposed to touch them. The other vapor pads are the same and you’re not supposed to touch them either.
I did not give them 5 stars becauseI think the batteries don’t last long but on the other hand I like that you can move the fan easily.

All parents have been there. At our wit’s end with a child too stuffed up to sleep because they can’t breathe and have their pacifier at the same time.
This is the answer. I may run out of toilet paper at my house but I will NEVER run out of the vapor fan pads.
This will be the 2nd winter I’ve used them – I have an almost 3 year old who gets hyper off the saline nose drops so this is the only other option now that they say cold medicine is dangerous.
I actually got so sick last year with a stuffy nose that I used this for myself & loved it. It really does clear up the nasal passages & allows you to sleep!
Don’t become sleep deprived when your child is sick, give these a try!
(Yes, they smell like cherry cough drops but they did not remind me of a urinal cake as suggested by the other reviewer.)

We have used the plug-in type vapors and prefer this Triaminic fan by far. The nice thing about this unit is you don’t need an outlet so you can place it anywhere in the room. Also, it doesn’t have the bright blue night light that the plug-in kind has. Contrary to the other reviewer, I find the cherry scent to be pleasant and much less offensive than the plug-in menthol smell. Also the vapors last through the night, whereas the plug-ins only last about 4 hours before they smell hot. Great product!!
